Ah yes, Elton John and Kiki Dee’s seminal love song (stop sniggering at the back, I said, “seminal love thong”. Wait – no…) was the first number 1 for both artists back in 1976 (surprisingly, Elton John wouldn’t enjoy similar success until 1990’s Sacrifice, fact fans). The duo reprised the song at Live Aid in 1987 but it is this performance with Miss Piggy that will be forever etched on your mind when you click on the link.
Of course, unsurprisingly, this song has featured in numerous musicals and it’s difficult to choose just one show to highlight – wait, what, it’s NEVER been used in a show? Not even The Lion King?! But I’ve already cooked the dish!!
Well, this is embarrassing… but silly me, I forget, the track featured prominently in the soundtrack of the 2011 animation hit Gnomeo And Juliet which, if I’m not mistaken, was the inspiration for West Side Story – so, Leonard Bernstein practically wrote it! Phew.
So, to enjoy my succulent love eggs, you will need to invest in a suitable fried egg shaper and well, I’m not actually going to tell you how to cook bacon and eggs, because…
And nobody told us
’cause nobody showed us
and now it’s up to us babe
Oh I think we can make it…
