Heaven Help My Heart is from the classic musical Chess! Regulars on this site will vividly remember our recipes for Du-Chess Potatoes and One Night in Spatchcock – both inspired by this show, which features music written by ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and lyrics by Tim Rice.
The song is performed by the role of Florence – famously portrayed by Elaine Page – as she reflects on her new love for Anatoly Sergievsky, a Soviet Russian Chess player who is due to play Florence’s (now ex-) lover Freddie at the big tournament. It’s all a bit of a mess, really – but that’s love for you…
Pushing all that complicated plot stuff aside, we’ve decided to celebrate OUR love (of food puns – obviously), by pulling together all our finest heart-shaped-musical-theatre-inspired recipes! Who knew that we had so many?!?!?
Maybe it’s best to love a food pun;
