Honeymoon in Vegas first opened on Broadway in 2015. Based on the 1992 movie of the same name, it ran for only five months, despite critical acclaim. Earlier this month it was revived as a semi-staged concert performance by the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, and we couldn’t let this occasion go by without working a few puns in.
This recipe is actually inspired by Albert Einstein, who as far as I know has never honeymooned in Vegas. Allegedly his favorite breakfast was fried eggs sweetened with honey. With a don’t-knock-it-until-you’ve-tried-it attitude, I gave it a go! The things I do for a good pun…
Meanwhile, toast the bread and place it on a serving plate – and why yes – I *do* have an egg shaped plate. Thanks for noticing! Serve the egg on the toast and spoon the remaining honey over the egg. The result is more pleasing than you might think – it’s Veggas, baby!
- 1 tbs butter
- 1 egg
- 1 slice of bread
- 2 tsp honey, divided
- Melt the butter in a small frying pan. Crack an egg into the pan and cook until almost ready. Add one teaspoon of the honey to the pan, and spoon it over the egg.
- Meanwhile, toast the bread and place it on a serving plate. Serve the egg over the toast and spoon the remaining honey over the egg.
