Coming up with recipes with musical puns in mind is great.  So is coming up with musical puns with recipes in mind.  All of us here at Life Is A Cabernet love doing both.

Did you see Angus’ recent amazing Don’t Go Bacon My Heart post?  It got me thinking though, we don’t have enough breakfast posts on the blog, so we really had to do another one.

So on went my thinking cap.  But what kind of breakfast?  Something with a high degree of skill possibly.  Something French?  Something more exotic?  But there are so many wonderful cuisines to choose from.  Once decided on a recipe, you have to gather the ingredients, plan the preparation and cooking.  And then, take photos.  The things we do for our craft.  It can get all too much.  Well… sometimes, you just have to put down the pan, let go of the ladle, switch off the oven, surrender the spatula, relinquish the rolling pin.  So here it is…

Take a Break(fast).

This breakfast has not been prepared by me.  It is brought to you by my local cafe, which serves a hearty British breakfast fit for champions.  There are baked beans, fried tomatoes, bacon, black pudding, sausage, a fried egg and bubble and squeak.  Served with some toast and a cup of coffee.

Take a Break is a song from Hamilton the Musical, which if you’re following the blog, or perhaps have not been under a large impermeable rock for some time, will be a musical you’ve heard of.  In the song, Eliza and Angelica encourage Alexander to go upstate in New York for the summer – to have some time off.  Wise words, sometimes you have to take a break, and if you’re in to cooking, that means sometimes letting someone else cook for you!
